Twelve Bilingual Poems in Chinese and English: "The Cicada" By Ji Junqun (Brazil)
I. The Cicada (Micro-group)
1. A bell hangs on a sparse branch, awakening the frosty morning
The sound waves spread—
The silence of the entire autumn is shattered into ripples
2. Thin wings tremble in the wind, as if an unfinished letter
The ink is still wet
Let the autumn dew stain it into a transparent melancholy
3. In an instant, the autumn light seals the cry
The west wind exerts pressure
I become, a frozen year The Amber of the Moon
4. In the desolate long sentence, a comma hangs suspended
Waiting for the snow—
Spring flowers bloom, rewriting an endless poem
II. The Cicada
In silence, the night river swallows the last glimmer of light
—Bloodstains congeal into frost
Looking back, winter snow covers the ruins of the old city
III. The Cicada
Frosty blades sever the last wisp of cry
Wrapped in the accent of home, the traveler fills his bag with fragments of moonlight
IV. The Cicada
Chicken blood scalds the throat. More than just the monkeys fall silent—
Breathless stares at each other
Seeing the autumn wind tearing the golden hues across the ground outside the hall
V. The Cicada
In the hall, the cry transforms into chains of judgment
At the end of the courtroom
The shouts are forged into the steps of dawn
VI. The Cicada
The sound of autumn congeals into icicles in the throat
The wings are hoarse—
Unable to bear the twilight. Smoke from the hometown chimneys sinks into the earth
VII. Cicada
On the tree, who poured out their strength to sing a farewell song?
The mountains open their arms,
to receive all the stars wandering in foreign lands.
VIII. Cicada
In the desolate long poem, I became a suspended comma,
waiting for the snow—
Spring flowers bloom, composing a new chapter.
IX. Cicada
The ancient temple's evening drum sinks into the moss, the green lamp fades.
The autumn wind counts the fallen leaves.
The song, nailing the longing for homecoming into the soil, one note at a time.
X. Cicada
Frost forms a cocoon on thin wings, its cry piercing the sky.
The shattered moon, as promised, illuminates the eternal journey back to homeland.
XI. Cicada
Golden molts fade on the letter paper.
Dewdrops hang, yet do not fall.
Spring rain is still incubating dreams yet to awaken.
XII. Cicada
Let the north wind pile up
A cup of turbid wine by the Yi River.
Footsteps are imprinted on the wasteland of history. The Song of Swallows Has Not Yet Ceased
