War Drums
War drums shake the sky,
Soldiers' spirits are very high.
Roads and walls are already done,
I'm heading south alone.
Following the steps of general Sun,
Try to mediate states of Song and Chen.
No hope to return in coming years,
Worries overwhelm powerful cheers.
Barricks are established for resting boots,
But a horse escaped on a careless noose.
Where to find it if I could,
Yet it's taking easy in the woods.
Survival together is our common needs,
As sworn between you and me.
Once our hands are joining together,
I'll be there with you forever.
Dismayed about the departure,
Ever so hard to meet once more.
Saddened to be so far away,
Our promises will be so hard to be kept.
