A mishap
Might only be missing a fine dinner.
But to those unfortunate,
A stumble
Could be twelve years of slavery.
Life and death, so blurred,
No longer the decision of your own.
In a flash moment,
Dignity is stripped away,
Your life becomes other's property.
No right to love.
Your loved one, at any moment,
could be tortured, raped.
Your bodies become other's.
A white face god
Gives you a prayer
Then steal away everything else,
Including your soul.
Once a free man,
You know how precious the freedom is.
Your rebellion moves me,
Your survival makes me in tears.
