春暖花开的四月,我从Reno(里诺)来到Florida(佛罗里达州,以下简称 FL)州的一个小镇Bartow(巴托)探望在这里工作的先生。

An unknown path

In the warm spring of April, I came from Reno (Reno) to a small town (Bartow) in Florida (Florida, hereinafter referred to as FL) to visit my husband who works here.
After dinner that day, my husband and I went out for a walk, walking on a path that is only for pedestrians to walk, run, or cycle. I don't know how long it is. But it's very close to my husband's rented apartment, which is next to a highway called No.98, just across the road.
The first time I walked on this path, I fell in love with it. It does not have the roar of various motor vehicles, nor is it as dazzling as a wide road, what it has is tranquility. Occasionally, people walking, running, or cycling pass by, and they will nod in a friendly way, or say "Hello", which is regarded as a greeting.
On both sides of the path are ancient forests, which are specially preserved. All kinds of flowers, plants, and trees here are intertwined with each other, and their roots are intertwined; some climb trees, and some branches are soft and drooping.
There are the most oak trees here. Before this I had never seen an oak tree. It is not as tall as I imagined, let alone towering, but it grows thick and has luxuriant branches. There are some oak trees that need to be hugged by three or five people, probably hundreds of years old. There is a plant called moss. I didn’t know its name at first, but later, I found out from a friend that it is called Spanish moss. After checking Baidu, I found out it belongs to a moss. Like a fisherman returning from the sea to dry his net, it hangs upside down on every branch extending from the oak tree, strand by strand, very beautiful.

It is green all year round, with overgrown flowers and plants, beautiful and charming, and the fragrance of flowers and plants is everywhere. I stopped and went, admiring the picturesque scenery while listening to my husband talking about its legendary history. There is a book titled: A Land Remembered, and the author of this book is Patrick D. Smith. This is a true story. This book is about the experiences of three generations of a family starting a business in FL. The first generation lived on bison, caught and sold them, the second generation makes a living by raising cattle, selling cattle, buying land, and planting orange trees. Hide the saved money in a house they built themselves. By the third generation, they mainly buy land. At this time, most of the land in FL has been bought by him. By 1929, during the Great Depression, most banks closed down, and banknotes were almost useless. At this time, he took out the gold coins he had hidden, and started to set up a bank and start a business. Deduced his legendary life. Most of the protected areas in FL are basically donated by him.
Most of the houses of the residents here have no walls, and the front and back yards are mostly flowers and trees, and endless lawns can be seen everywhere. Those golden yellow cows and black and white flower cows are either watching or grazing leisurely, and some are lying under the big trees to enjoy the shade.
As far as the eye can see, in addition to the unwelcome mosquitoes, there are flowers, beautiful scenery and singing birds, and various plants that I know or don't know are swaying in the spring breeze, nodding and laughing, and passing pedestrians each other say:” hello”. Some small animals also walk past us from time to time. Their calls are sometimes connected together, sometimes intermittently, like a call from a lover, or like singing a cheerful song together. They are playing and enjoying themselves among the dense forests of flowers and plants.
At about seven o'clock in the evening, a round of red sun showed a golden smiling face behind the shade of the tree, and it scattered rose petals on the fertile land through the gaps in the forest. Everything seemed so peaceful and beautiful. I stretched out my arms and took a deep breath...
On this quiet path, there are me and my loved one, as well as the fragrance of flowers, grass, and soil... This is a long-lost comfort and satisfaction. I feel that I have been integrated into this beautiful natural scenery and have become a part of them.
Standing among them and listening to their stories, I seem to have stepped into the memory of my childhood, everything is so kind, so friendly so serene as well as beautiful. My mood is exceptionally happy, and everything goes without saying.
