此刻
文/Ken
Everybody
Get out!
Out!
...

The Moment
By Ken Fan
An ordinary day:
Emails, morning meetings and reports,
And, of course, coffee.
Best thing of the day!
Suddenly
A loud explosion outside.
Windows are shaking,
Those heads lift a bit,
Puzzled. But then
The coffee line returns to normal
And chitchat resumes.
Nothing surprises this city.
Only the elevators have suspended,
Walking down through the dark stairs,
The entrance hall is crowded,
Some are shocked,
Others may not,
Only bewildered and puzzled...
A team of police officers rush in,
Arms are waving and yelling:
-- Everybody
Get out!
Out!
...
Isn't it like an old Bolshevik movie?
More cops are outside,
Crowds are hurried north.
And you, wow,
Still holding that coffee cup?
Another thunderous explosion,
a thick dark cloud falling down from the sky.
People are running, screaming,
and cursing.
This large-size coffee has to be cast off,
The day is entirely ruined...
At City Hall Square,
The crowds finally come to pause,
And catch some breath.
Horrified eyes all turn to the direction of the giant smokes...
Suddenly, someone is shrieking,
Crowds are disturbed again.
Some human figures are jumping off,
from a hundred floors high,
Desperation ...
The Twin Towers
Like paper-made.
Collapsing
So quickly
Yet so slowly,
Like a science fiction,
numbing...
No more yelling,
No more breathing,
And time... stops.
All are freezing
Into that chilling image.
Nothing else exists
At this moment...
