Nanga Bawa
Written/translated by Ken Fan
At the southern tip of Tibetan plateau,
Stands a magnificent mountain,
Ah, Nanga Bawa.
The guide is right,
No fog at dawn,
What a vision!
Living by the sea,
Never imagined those peaks could be such overwhelming.
They're like giant spears,
One is loftier and sharper than the other,
Piercing the sky open,
Uncompromising.
In front of God’s feet,
Terrified, intimidated and shaken.
The golden banners are shuddering in the chilly gusts,
As if prodding the pilgrims.
All kneel down,
Shuddering under the heaven...
Hurrah, Look
Here they are!
A few dancing clouds,
From the sun-rising east.
Gently sweeping by,
The mountain peaks are blinking intermittently,
As if moving along,
With some occasional glows so golden.
Alas, Manga Bawa,
You wake up,
Actually alive!
Must be true that
the younger the peak,
The more proudly upright it is.
Ha, now I see even more clearly,
What a beauty!
It's a miracle,
All tears...
