1. 远处的山
好像又聋又哑
我不停大声地喊
都不吭一声
活到这把岁数
就像我爷爷
披着满头白发
蹲在门前
你从身旁走过
眼皮都不肯稍微抬一下
而爷爷已经走了多年
山还在
左看右看
都像爷爷的坟
1. The Mountains Afar
I keep yelling on and on
But the mountains afar
As if deaf and dumb
Never respond
They have been living so long
Just like my grandpa
With a white crown
Squatting before the gate
When you happened to pass him by
He wouldn’t bother to lift his eyes
Alas, Grandpa has been gone for years
The mountains are still there
Viewed from all angles
They resemble Grandpa’s tomb
2. 苍茫如铺开的大海
风喘着粗气
爬上对面的山头
草原逃不过
一层薄薄的霜
炊烟站在屋顶
不停地朝远处招手
一条瘦弱的小路
无力拉住秋天的背影
苍茫如铺开的大海
我只是一片随波逐流的叶子
攥紧掌心难以预料的命运
找不到靠近的岸
2. The Vast Prairie is Like an Open Sea
The gasping wind
Climbs over the mountains opposite
The prairie cannot escape
A film of frost
The cooking smoke loiters over the roof
Waving toward the distance
A bony pathlet
Fails to hold back the disappearing autumn
The vast prairie is like an open sea
And I am merely a leaf on the flow
Clenching the unpredictable fate in the palm of my hands
Yet unable to find a shore to land
3. 草原月色
月光从山顶滑下来
跟着溪水
迈着碎步行走
累了
就坐在花瓣上
昆虫的啼叫
躲在暗处
风吹来
牧人的呼噜
一声高过一声
3. The Moonlit Prairie
The moonlight slides down from the mountain top
Along with the brook
Minces about
Till tired
And then sits upon petals
The chirpy insects
Are hidden in the dark
The wind blows here
The snores of the shepherd
That grow louder and louder
4. 麻 雀
一只麻雀与草原比
太小了，小得
稍不注意，就可以疏忽
而一片草原，包括
那些数不清的山
与一只麻雀的翅膀比
太小了，小得
稍不留神，就飞到尽头
站在雪地上的麻雀
只管低头觅食
心里琢磨着
把整个草原装进胃里
4. The Sparrow
Compared with the prairie
A sparrow is too small
To be noticeable
Whereas a stretch of the prairie
With numerous mountains
Is too small, if compared with the wings of a sparrow
So small that a flutter of the wings covers them all
The sparrow on the snow-covered field
Is seeking food
Thinking
How to put the whole prairie into its stomach
5. 想起一头驴
把一生交给磨盘
被鞭子赶着
以为走了很远
扯下一块布，还在原地站着
人一旦蠢起来比驴更蠢
低着头，被自己吆着
把一些没有必要的东西
只管朝肩上放
撞到南墙，转身
已回不到曾经
5. Thinking of a Donkey
Driven by a whip
A donkey devotes its whole life to the millstone
Assuming it has walked a long distance
A cloth is torn off: it stands on the same spot
Man can be stupider than a donkey
When he chooses to be
Head down, self-driven
He piles on his own shoulders
Lots of unnecessary things
When stopped by the wall in a dead lane
He turns around
But unable to return to the past
6. 相 思
像一把刀子
总是往要命处捅
像蛰伏墙缝里的一只蝎子
从夜晚的暗处
一次次
伸来弯曲的钩刺
用毒液
颠倒着黑白
6. Longing
Like a knife
Longing always stabs into the vital organs
Or rather like a scorpion hidden in a cracked wall
From the dark of night
One time after another
Longing stretches out its hooked needle
With poison
Makes white day out of black night
7. 一颗子弹
一颗子弹，压在枪膛
轻轻地扣动扳击
心中的怒火就会射出去
左瞄，右瞄
却找不到一个合适的目标
多少年过去了
一颗子弹，还压在枪膛
成为自杀的隐患
7. A Bullet
A bullet, stuck in the gun
Even a slight touch on the trigger
Would shoot out the suppressed fire of anger
Aim left, aim right
Alas, no suitable target in sight
So many years have passed
A bullet, still stuck in the gun
Becomes a suicidal threat
8. 梦
一场雪
掩埋了往事的痕迹
看不见一条路
走向记忆的小屋
寂寞伸进夜的深处
我只能抓住一片叶子
东躲西藏
却逃不过一阵风的追杀
8. A Dream
A fall of snow
Covers up all the traces of past events
No pathlet visible
Leads to the hut of memory
Loneliness inserts into the dead of the night
I can only catch a leaf
Hiding, dodging
Yet still ending up hunted by a gust of wind
9. 一滴泪
晶莹、透亮，总在背地里流着
一滴泪，挤净了生活的水份
难以言说的苦与涩，让一滴泪
强忍着撕心裂肺的痛
一滴泪里游动着一条伤心的鱼
一滴泪能决堤一条河，淹死半个月亮
母亲的一滴泪
总从我眼里哭出
9. A Drop of Tear
Crystal clear; always shed in private
A drop of tear wrings life dry
The indescribable bitter and astringent taste
Makes a drop of tear
Stomach the heart-piercing pain
Within a drop of tear swims a heart-broken fish
A drop of tear is able to overfill a river
Or drown half a moon
A drop of tear of Mama’s
Always oozes out of my eyes
10. 天已很冷
刚躺下，梦便迫不急待地
像一只蝴蝶
从展开的身体里飞出
天已很冷，你还站在村口
被雪雕刻成别时的样子
刚喊出你的名字
就被一阵敲门声惊醒
推开门，妻子并没在意我的表情
只管低头在包里翻着
一把钥匙，可能没带
可能丢了
10. It’s Rather Cold, Already
The moment I lie down
The dream like a butterfly
Can’t wait to fly out of my unfolded body
It’s rather cold, already,
Yet still standing at the village entrance
You’re carved by snow into a stature
Looking exactly the same as when we parted company
Your name is still on my lips
And I’m awakened by knocks on the door
I push open the door; my wife neglecting my look
Busy searching her bag
For a key, probably forgotten behind
Or probably lost
