双语诵读 《中国—我的祖国 China—Motherland》

中国位于亚洲大陆的东部,太平洋的西岸,面积是960万平方公里,是世界第三大国。在地图上,中国的版图看起来就像一只头朝东,尾朝西的大公鸡。

      China lies in the eastern part of the Asian continent and on the west bank of the Pacific Ocean. It has an area of 9.6 million square kilometers.  It is the third biggest country in the world. On the map China's domain looks like a big cock with its head to the east and its tail to the west.

       中国有5000多年的悠久历史,是世界四大文明古国之一。古代中国的四大发明(造纸术,印刷术,火药,指南针)是中华民族聪明智慧的体现,对古代的科技文化都产生了重大的影响。这是中华民族对世界文明的巨大贡献。

   China has a long history of over five thousand years. It is one of the four civilized, ancient countries in the world. The four inventions(paper making,compass, gunpowder and printing) in ancient China is the full reflection of the intelligence and wisdom of the Chinese nation. These inventions produced great influences to science, technology and culture of the ancient world.   This is a great contribution of the Chinese people to the world civilization.

       中国在世界上人口最多,由56个民族组成。由于中国政府制定了民族平等政策,各个民族和谐相处团结互助,他们正在为祖国的社会主义建设贡献自己的力量。

   China has the largest population of the world, which is made up of 56 nationalities. With the policy of national equality made by the Chinese government , all the nationalities are getting on harmoniously in unity and mutual help. They are doing their bit  in the socialist construction of the country.

        1840年以清朝政府失败告终的鸦片战争使中国丧失了主权,人民失去了自由。给人民带来了极端的贫困和无尽的病痛。但中国人民并没有屈服,起义和革命此起彼伏。

        The Opium War in 1840 with the defeat, of Qing Dynasty brought to the Chinese people the loss of sovereignty and freedom, extreme poverty and endless diseases. But the Chinese people didn't give in. Uprisings and revolutions rose one after another.

       1911年孙中山领导的辛亥革命的成功,结束了清朝的封建制度。但是人民仍然受苦受难。

        With the success of 1911 Revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat- sen, the feudal system of Qing Dynasty was ended. But the people  still  suffered all kinds of hardships.

        直到1949年,中国共产党领导中国人民推翻了三座大山,建立了中华人民共和国,中国人民才真正当家做主人,开始新的生活。

     Until 1949 when the Chinese people led by the Chinese Communist Party overthrew the " three big mountains"  and set up  the People's Republic of China, the Chinese people can really become the master of the country and begin a new life .   

       现在,中国正处于一个新的历史时期,我们正在建设有中国特色的社会主义,总任务是实现社会主义现代化和中华民族伟大复兴。我们必须坚持改革开放,把我们祖国建成一个富强民主、文明和谐、幸福的国家。中国的明天一定更美好。

       Now China is in a new historical period.  We are building socialism with Chinese characteristics, the total task of which is to realize socialist modernization and the great renewal of the Chinese nation .  We should adhere to reform and opening to build our motherland into a strong, rich, democratic, harmonious , civilized and happy country.  Sure, China will have a much better tomorrow.
