The Tree and The travellers

一棵树和两个人

Two men were walking along one summer day. 

一个夏天，两个人在散步。

Soon it became too hot to go any further and, seeing a large plane tree nearby, they threw themselves on the ground to rest in its shade. 

不一会儿，天气变得非常热，他们走不动了，看到附近有一棵大梧桐树，就扑倒在地上，在树荫下休息。

Gazing up into the branches one man said to the other: “What a useless tree this is. It does not have fruit or nuts that we can eat and we cannot even use its wood for anything.” 

一个人抬头看着树枝，对另一个人说:“这是一棵多么无用的树啊!它没有我们可以吃的水果和坚果，我们甚至不能用它的木材做任何事情。”

“Don’t be so ungrateful,” rustled the tree in reply. 

“别这么忘恩负义，”树沙沙地回答。

“I am being extremely useful to you at this very moment, shielding you from the hot sun. And you call me a good-for-nothing!” 

“在这个时候，我对你非常有用，保护你免受烈日的暴晒。你还说我是废物!”
