I. Winter Solstice
(Tune to Rhyme Series 1)

Frost turns blue, snow shines white, rosy clouds spread far and wide;
The fields lie bare, the cold sky stretches endless overhead.
Ice-cloaked hills and ridges frame the crimson maples’ pride;
Clear frosty air nips ears, and freezing wind stings eyes instead.
Fox-fur coats and sable jackets, soft brocade linings warm;
We count the cold nine-night cycles, through winter’s chill to sail.
Gathering friends around the stove, cups and bowls brim with charm;
Dishes are spotless, goblets filled with pure wine, good and pale.
II. Winter Solstice
(Tune to Rhyme Series 2)
Cold creeps in as winter comes, fresh frost gilds the scene;
We put away thin silk robes, and don thick warm attire.
Draw curtains tight to keep mist out, shield the cold window screen;
Hide from the whistling wind, and stash light clothes away with care.
Flying sand stirs up stones, north wind howls and sweeps around;
Lake waters freeze solid, the great Yangtze locks in ice.
Chill air congeals the rivers, a cold tune starts to sound;
We pass the twelfth lunar month, waiting for plum blossoms’ spice.
III. Winter Solstice
(Tune to Rhyme Series 3)
Stars are sparse, the sun creeps slow, snow lingers on its way;
We dress in fluffy gowns, wrap thick coats around our frame.
Exercise to keep fit and strong, dance with gentle sway;
Jiangnan’s grace unfolds, and water towns cast a charming flame.
Cook delicacies, taste fine meals, savor sweet new treats;
Avoid the plain frost, stay away from the biting headwind.
Chill air freezes the rivers, a cold melody repeats;
We rest at dusk’s soft glow, and rise with dawn’s first light to mend.
IV. Winter Solstice
(Tune to Rhyme Series 4)
Severe winter’s cold mist freezes lotus, making them fade and die;
Water towns paint a picture, old markets sketch a tranquil view.
Colorful frost and crystal dew embroider Suzhou’s sky;
Ice-capped hills and ridges line the cold streams clear and blue.
Greet the morning, peek at scenery, step on a brand-new path;
Walk steadily on the road, take light steps as we roam.
Climb hills, watch for slopes, take slow paths without any wrath;
Scoop up dirt and filth, sweep away all the dust and foam.
V. Winter Solstice
(Tune to Rhyme Series 5)

Hills and ridges shiver cold, fierce wind bites the steep cliff’s face;
Silver frost coats the peaks, clearing away mist and haze.
Late crops are harvested slowly, grains sown in winter’s space;
Hibiscus fades and falls, wintersweet begins to blaze.
Admire pavilions, peek at towers, step into the lofty hall;
View new sceneries, taste fresh dishes in the quiet study.
Listen to the soft tunes of Pingtan, the elegant rhymes enthrall;
Tap out refined verses, and let our hearts and minds run free.
VI. Snow
(Tune to Rhyme Series 6)
Paint mountains and ridges, dye hills silver-white all around;
Scoop up dirt and dust, sweep away all the filth and grime.
Press down pines and cypresses, adorn the mountain shrubs’ ground;
Clean the streets and roads, brush the lakeside’s peaceful clime.
Break plum branches, nourish flower buds, embroider fragrant scent;
Wash the bustling city, brighten the quiet countryside.
Melt into water to moisten fields, make the wild land content;
Thaw through the nine cold cycles, waiting for spring’s warm tide.
VII. Mist
(Tune to Rhyme Series 7)
Weave mist and haze, paint illusions, seal the mountains from sight;
Hide the dark mist and fog, create perilous bends and lanes.
Block the morning sun, curl like a cloud disc in the sky bright;
Close the vehicle roads, confuse the hills and ridges’ plains.
Gaze at flowers, their shadows hidden, blocked from the glowing light;
Shapes lurk in fantasy, appearances fade like smoke thin.
Hover over the sky, hide the bright moon from our eager sight;
Confuse the sacrificial rites, delay the fairy altar’s din.
VIII. Frost
(Tune to Rhyme Series 8)
Greet the morning, gather dew, gild the clear and bright dawn hour;
Millet stems get damaged, willow leaves wither and fall down.
Seize the green vines, turn them into red peppers in its power;
Harm flower stamens and pistils, damage seedlings in the town.
Invade cabbages and chives, slightly hurt the crown daisies too;
Chill the delicate flower calyxes, nip the twigs and shoots.
Punish cranes and quails, penalize the white egrets as they flew;
Break the wild geese’s return journey, invade the orioles’ cute roosts.
IX. Rain
(Tune to Rhyme Series 9)
Moisten cabbages and grains, make pond lotuses grow strong and tall;
Nourish wintersweet in cold, enrich summer spinach’s green.
Wash away dust and dirt, scrub the windowpanes smooth and all;
Sprinkle flower stamens and pistils, wet the green crops’ sheen.
Ripples lull fish and crabs, nurture river snails in the deep;
Foster pines and cypresses, let creepers and ivy spread and leap.
Moisten the sky and the Milky Way, magpies soar and sweep;
Crane pairs wander leisurely, swans travel and take a peep.
