这是新冠病毒肆虐的第二个年头，虽是春天，百花盛开的季节里却一片寂静。充满活力的江海市按下了暂停键，已经静默38天了。肖岚望着窗外，只见几只鸟儿在树上无忧无虑的叽叽喳喳，正在沉思之际，手机响了，她一看是隔壁刘大妈的儿子周扬打来的。

“岚姐，告诉你两个好消息，先听哪一个？”“不要卖关子了，什么好消息？快说来听听。”“岚姐，那我先说你最想听的吧，我们小区今天下午就要解封了！”“我早知道了，快说说你的第二个好消息吧。”“我已接到入伍通知，解封后，我就要去部队了，当初是你鼓励我当兵的，必须第一个告诉你哦。”“太好了，祝贺你，周扬！你妈妈一定很高兴吧。”肖岚一脸欣喜地挂了电话，又自言自语道：“周扬当兵是好事，可她妈妈怎么办呢？”

周扬十二岁时，父亲在一场车祸中丧生，是他母亲含辛茹苦将他抚养成人，并供他上了大学。眼看这苦日子就要熬岀头了，刘大妈的身体出了状况，被医院诊断为“阿尔茨海默病”，这是一种发生于老年人中枢神经系统退行性疾病，主要表现为记忆障碍，尽管是早期，但周扬去部队了，她一个人生活还是令人担忧的。

肖岚和刘大妈一家是老邻居了，刘大妈不是本地人，因丈夫调到本市工作，他们一家才于20多年前迁居江海，周扬是在江海市出生的，因夫妻俩老来得子，对周扬特别宠爱。肖岚本就是个热心人，加上又是邻居，对周扬母子更是关照。

小区解封后的第三天，周扬心事重重地来到肖岚家，“岚姐，还有几天我就要走了，最放心不下的就是我妈……”周扬还没说完就难过地流泪了，肖岚给周扬倒了杯水，让他坐下慢慢说。“周扬，你安心去部队，我会照顾你妈的，还有居委会呢，放心去吧！”“岚姐，我爸走得早，我和我妈多亏你们照顾，我去当兵，也是听了你的话才下了决心的，否则怎能丟下我妈……”周扬激动地抓住肖岚的手，已泣不成声。肖岚望着这个从不流泪的小伙子，想缓解一下气氛，故作轻松地调侃道：“都是要当兵的人了，还哭呢，未来的解放军同志，笑一个！”周扬果真被这个大自己十多岁的“邻居姐姐”逗乐了，见周扬破涕为笑后，肖岚叮嘱他去学校和老师、同学们好好道个别，多陪陪妈妈。

肖岚是远近闻名的才女，毕业于高等学府，原有一份在报社任编辑的工作，后因喜欢游历山水，故辞了工作，做了自由撰稿人。父母赴香港和哥哥嫂子一起生活，也让肖岚和他们同去香港，肖岚留恋这座城市，对爸妈说：“你们去香港吧，我留下来守着这个家，这里是我的根。”

她是人们心目中的“女侠”，又是大家口中的“活雷锋”，熟悉她的人都知道，凡是遇到急事、难事第一个想到的就是她，即便是素不相识的人遇到困难，她也会不遗余力的给予帮助。

周扬上高中时一度有辍学的念头，家里只有母亲一人上班，还要供他读书，经济十分困难。肖岚不仅资助他上学，还经常开导他，让他好好学习，将来成为对国家有用的人。周扬上大学后，肖岚又鼓励他去当兵，常常对周扬说：“好男儿志在四方，保家卫国最光荣！”

周扬带着母亲与肖岚的嘱托和期望，终于穿上军装，英姿飒爽地进了军营，开始了新兵训练的火热生活。

自周扬走后，刘大妈的病情逐渐加重，街道居委会干部对她也十分关心，经常探望，并时常给她送一些生活物资。肖岚对刘大妈更是无微不至地关心和照顾，只要不外出，每天都要到刘大妈家嘘寒问暖，帮她处理一些日常琐事。刘大妈是个性格内向的人，不爱和人多交流，凡事都不愿给别人添麻烦，对别人的帮助总是感激不已，常常拒绝接受。“我自己有一双手，不能总是依靠别人，谁都不容易。”成了她常挂在嘴边的口头禅。

这是一个周末的下午，肖岚约了出版社的朋友一起喝下午茶，商讨出书的事，突然接到刘大妈的电话，“小岚，我的钱丢了，这可怎么办啊，这可是我们家所有的积蓄啊！”“刘大妈别急，我马上过去，你在家等我！”肖岚挂了电话，和朋友打了个招呼，心急火燎地叫了一辆出租车，上车后又打电话给刘大妈：“大妈，我已在路上了，一会儿就到，千万别着急！”

约20分钟后，肖岚到了，听刘大妈讲了事情的经过：她上午去附近的银行取了5000元钱，回来后有些累，睡了一会儿，一觉醒来发现钱不见了，就急着给肖岚打电话。肖岚来不及问她取钱做什么用，而是说：“大妈，我回去一下，换双鞋，这高跟鞋磨脚，我马上就来。”“这……”刘大妈一脸失望，心想：我这么大的事，你来了也不帮我想办法找钱，而是急着回去换鞋。正在刘大妈一脸茫然之际，肖岚从家里出来了，因为就在隔壁，换个鞋也用不了多长时间。

“大妈，你回忆一下，钱是不是放在包里的，就是你出门常背的那个黑色包吧。”肖岚一边说一边向刘大妈卧室挂包的地方走去。“是的，是的，我取了钱就放进包里了，回家睡了一觉，怎么就不见了呢？”只见肖岚背对着刘大妈，从上衣口袋里掏出了一沓钱快速地放进包里，然后对刘大妈说：“大妈，我在包里找找看，如果找不到，我们再到外面去找。”“我找过了，包里没有，不可能丢在外面，我取了钱就回家了，哪里也没去。”肖岚装着很认真的样子在包里翻来翻去，过了一会儿，“惊喜”地对刘大妈说：“找到了，找到了，钱在包的最下面，你可能没仔细找，快数数，看是不是5000元。”肖岚将包和钱一起递给了刘大妈。刘大妈从肖岚手里接过这“失而复得”的一沓钱，一边数着一边念叨：“小岚，就是这个钱，一沓100元的，50张，我在包里翻了好几遍，怎么就没看见呢？唉，真是老糊涂了。”“大妈，你当时太着急了，加上你包里的东西多，自然就没看到了。”“是的是的，多亏你啊，小岚。”“您客气了，大妈，周扬不在家，有事就找我，我是你的邻居！”“是的，我们是邻居，这么好的邻居世上少有啊，这么多年了，你帮了我们多少啊！记得扬子十三岁那年，快过年了，我腰疼的老毛病犯了，躺在床上不能动弹，扬子夜里突然发高烧，是你将扬子送到医院，忙了一夜，第二天中午才回家，还有一次……”“不说了，大妈，这都是小事，是我应该做的，我们是邻居。”肖岚微笑着打断了刘大妈的话。

肖岚在接到刘大妈电话时就猜想，刘大妈健忘，肯定回家后将钱放在一个她以为安全的地方，之后又忘记了，一直以为在包里，在包里找不到就以为是丢了。这是“阿尔茨海默病”的典型症状，记忆障碍。不过是早期，还不算太严重。所以她谎称回家换鞋，其实是从家里拿了5000元钱放进刘大妈的包里，这场“丢钱风波”就以这种方式解决了。可是，肖岚在包里发现了一个印有“江海市第一人民医院”字样的文件袋，想拆开看看，刘大妈很紧张地从肖岚手里夺回文件袋，“小岚，你不能看！”“大妈，难怪你取这么多钱，一定是有事，快给我看看。”肖岚从刘大妈手里抢过文件袋，急忙取出里面的一张纸，原来是医院出具的病情诊断书，“肺癌”两个字赫然印入眼帘。肖岚惊呆了！她紧紧抱住刘大妈道：“大妈，怎么会这样啊，平时总见你咳嗽，还以为你只是气管炎，没想到这么严重啊！”“小岚，大妈求你一件事，千万不能告诉扬子啊，他刚去部队，不能让他分心。”刘大妈哭着央求肖岚为她的病情保密。

肖岚安抚好刘大妈后回到家里，四处打电话联系医院和专家，一直忙到晚上才算有了眉目。正准备吃晚饭，门铃响了，肖岚打开门，只见刘大妈拿着一沓钱对肖岚说：“小岚啊，我来还钱的，我的钱找到了，放在枕头下面，刚换床单时发现的，你看我这记性，原来在包里找到的钱是你放的啊，你真是大好人啊！”“大妈，我怕你着急，要是直接给你，你肯定不要，只好想了这个办法。”肖岚把刘大妈请到家里，说有事商量。

刘大妈得知肖岚为自己联系好了医院和专家，三天后住院治疗，死活不答应，并说了许多理由。“小岚，我们家的情况你是知道的，我取了5000块钱，就是准备买点药维持维持，我这病是治不好的，活一天算一天吧，能坚持到扬子在部队有出息的那一天就心满意足了……”刘大妈边说边抹眼泪。

肖岚最终以刘大妈若不去住院治疗就打电话将她的病情告诉周扬，“迫使”刘大妈接受了她的安排。住院前一天，肖岚陪刘大妈到银行将之前取出的5000元钱又存到了她的卡里，自己为刘大妈垫付了住院费。经专家诊断后，须立即手术，肖岚在手术告知书家属一栏上郑重地签上了自己的名字，在亲属关系一栏写下了“母女”二字。

就在肖岚将刘大妈送进手术室后，手机响了，“岚姐，新兵训练任务重，没时间经常打电话，今天休息，打我妈电话，一直无人接听，很担心，我妈还好吗？”“周扬，你要尽快适应部队生活，要好好训练，你妈很好，居委会的工作人员都很关心她，还有我这个邻居呢，你就放心吧。”“岚姐，有你、有居委会、还有很多好心人关心我妈，我很放心，我会在部队好好煅炼，争取早日成为一名合格的解放军战士！”

肖岚和周扬通完电话后，在手术室外焦急地等待了四个多小时，那扇紧闭的门终于开了，“谁是刘芳的家属？”“我是！医生，刘大妈怎么样了？手术顺利吗？”“什么？怎么是刘大妈，你不是她女儿吗？”“是的是的”“你妈手术很成功，放心吧！你到病房去等，护士马上送她回去。”医生说完后又转身进去了。

肖岚急忙向病房奔去，她怕刘大妈先到病房苏醒后看不到自己会害怕，她要尽快赶到病房去等刘大妈，她要让刘大妈知道，自己不仅仅是她的邻居，更是她的亲人，她会陪着她战胜病魔！

刘大妈的手术很成功，已安全度过了术后危险期。肖岚在病房一边陪护，一边构思下一篇小说《邻居续集》……

This is the second year of the Covid-19 virus raging. Although it is spring, there is silence in the season of blooming flowers. The vibrant city of Jianghai pressed the pause button and has been silent for 38 days.  Xiao Lan looked out the window and saw a few birds chirping carefree on the tree. While she was contemplating, the phone rang. She saw that it was the call from Zhou Yang, the son of Aunt Liu next door.

"Sister Lan, I'll tell you two good news, which one will you listen to first?" "Don't give a shit, what's the good news?  tell me quickly." "Sister Lan, let me tell you what you want to hear first, our community,  It will be unblocked this afternoon!" "I knew it earlier, let's talk about your second good news." "I have received the notice of enlistment, after the unblocking, I will go to the army, it was you  the first person who encouraged me to become a soldier, I must tell you first " "That's great, congratulations, Zhou Yang! Your mother must be very happy." Xiao Lan hung up the phone with joy, and said to herself:  "It's good for Zhou Yang to be a soldier, but what about her mother?"

When Zhou Yang was twelve years old, his father was killed in a car accident, and it was his mother who worked hard to raise him up and support him study in college.  Seeing these hard days are coming to an end, Aunt Liu's heath is not well, she was diagnosed by the hospital as "Alzheimer's disease", which is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system that occurs in the elderly, mainly manifested as memory obstacles, although it is in early days, Zhou Yang has gone to the army, and she lives alone and is still worrying.

Xiao Lan and Aunt Liu's family are old neighbors. Aunt Liu is not a local person. Their family moved to Jianghai more than 20 years ago because her husband was transferred to work in this city. Zhou Yang was born in Jianghai City. Because they had a first child when they were in old ages, so they both love Zhou Yang very much.  Xiao Lan is an enthusiastic person, and as a neighbour, she is even more concerned about Zhou Yang's mother and her son.

On the third day after the community was unblocked, Zhou Yang came to Xiao Lan's house with a lot of thoughts, "Sister Lan, I will be leaving in a few days, and the person whom I most worried is my mother..." Zhou Yang felt sad before he finished speaking. Tears in his eyes, Xiao Lan gave a glass of water to Zhou Yang and asked him to sit down and talk slowly. "Zhou Yang, you can go to the army with peace of mind, I will take care of your mother, and the neighbourhood committee too, don't worry!" "Sister Lan, my father left early, and my mother and I are thankful for your care. I listened to your advise and go to the army,  I made up my mind only after your words, otherwise how could I leave my mother..." Zhou Yang grabbed Xiao Lan's hand excitedly, and was already sobbing.  Xiao Lan looked at the young man who never shed tears before, trying to ease the atmosphere, she pretended to be relaxed and joked: "you are the person who are going to be a soldier, and you are still crying, future comrades of the People's Liberation Army, have a smile ！

Finally Zhou Yang was amused by the "neighbour sister" who is more than ten years older than himself. After seeing Zhou Yang smile through tears, Xiao Lan told him to go to school to say goodbye to teachers and classmates, and spend more time with his mother.  

Xiao Lan is a well-known talented woman. She graduated from a tertiary institutions. She used to have a job as an editor in a newspaper. Later, because she likes to travel the mountains and rivers, she quit her job and became a freelance writer.  Her parents went to Hong Kong to live with her brother and sister-in-law, and they also asked Xiao Lan to go to Hong Kong with them. Xiao Lan missed the city and said to her parents, "you go to Hong Kong, I will stay and guard this home, this is my root."

She is the "female hero" in people's minds, and also the "living Lei Feng" in everyone's mouth. People who are familiar with her know that she is the first person to think of when encountering emergencies or difficulties.  Even those people whom she didn’t know  when they are in times of difficulty, she will spare no effort to help. 

When Zhou Yang was in high school, he had the idea of dropping out of school. Only his mother worked in the family, and she had to support his study. The economy was very difficult.  Xiao Lan not only subsidized him to go to school, but also often taught him to study hard and become a useful person to the country in the future.  After Zhou Yang went to college, Xiao Lan encouraged him to join the army and often said to Zhou Yang, "A good man is determined to be in all directions, and it is the most honourable thing to protect the family and the country!"

With the entrustment and expectations of his mother and Xiao Lan, Zhou Yang finally put on the military uniform, entered the military camp in a valiant manner, and began a hot life of recruit training.

Since Zhou Yang left, Aunt Liu's illness has gradually worsened, and the leaders of the street neighborhood committee are also very concerned about her, often visiting her, and sending her some living materials.  Xiao Lan cared and took care of Aunt Liu in every possible way. As long as she didn't go out, she would go to Aunt Liu's house every day to greet her and help her with some daily chores.  Aunt Liu is an introverted person. She doesn't like to communicate with others, not wanting to cause trouble to others. She is always grateful for the help of others and often refuses to accept it.  "I have my own hands, and I can't always rely on others. It's not easy for anyone." This became her commonplace sayings.

It was a weekend afternoon, Xiao Lan invited friends from the publishing house to have afternoon tea together to discuss publishing a book, and suddenly received a call from Aunt Liu, "Xiao Lan, I lost my money, what should I do?  This is all our family's savings!" "Don't worry, Aunt Liu, I'll come right away, you wait for me at home!" Xiao Lan hung up the phone, greeted her friends, and anxiously called a taxi and got in the car,  Then she called Aunt Liu again: "Auntie, I'm already on my way, I'll be there in a minute, don't worry!"

About 20 minutes later, Xiao Lan arrived and listened to Aunt Liu's story: She went to a nearby bank to withdraw 5,000 yuan in the morning. After she came back, she was a little tired, She slept for a while. She lost her money after she woke up, then she called Xiao Lan in a hurry.  Xiao Lan didn't have time to ask her what she did with the money, but said, "Auntie, I'll go back home and change my shoes. These high-heeled shoes will hurt my feet. I'll back right away." "This..." Aunt Liu looked disappointed and thought to herself: For such a big thing, you didn't help me find a way to find money when you came, but hurried back to change your shoes. When Aunt Liu was at a loss, Xiao Lan came out of her house, because it was next door, and it didn't take long to change her shoes.

"Auntie, recall that is the money in the bag? it's the black bag you always carry when you go out." Xiao Lan said as she walked to the place where the bag was in Aunt Liu's bedroom. "Yes, yes, I took the money and put it in my bag. After I went home and slept, why did it disappear?"  Xiao Lan turned her back to Aunt Liu, and took out a stack of money from one of her jacket pocket. The money was quickly put into the bag, and then she said to Aunt Liu: "Auntie, I'll look in the bag. If I can't find it, we'll go outside to find it." "I have looked and there is no money in the bag. It can’t be lost outside, as I took the money and went home, and I didn't go anywhere." Xiao Lan rummaged in her bag with a serious look, and after a while, she said to Aunt Liu in "surprise", "I found,  Yes, I found it, the money is at the bottom of the bag, you may not have looked carefully, you count quickly to see if it is 5,000 yuan." Xiao Lan handed the bag and money to Aunt Liu.  Aunt Liu took the "lost and found" stack of money from Xiao Lan, and said while counting: "Xiao Lan, this is the money, a stack of 100 yuan, 50 pieces, I flipped through the bag several times,  Why didn't I see it? Oh, I'm so confused." "Aunt, you were so anxious at the time, plus you had a lot of stuff in your bag, so naturally you didn't see it." Xiao Lan interrupted Aunt Liu's words with a smile.

When Xiao Lan received a call from Aunt Liu, she guessed that Aunt Liu was forgetful, and she must put the money in a place she thought was safe when she got home, and then she forgot about it. And still thought it was in her bag, but couldn't find it in bag so she thought it was lost.  This is a typical symptom of "Alzheimer's disease", memory impairment.  But it's early days, not too serious at the time. So she lied that she went home to change her shoes, but she actually took 5,000 yuan from home and put it in Aunt Liu's bag. This "lost money storm" was solved in this way.  However, Xiao Lan found a document bag with the words "Jianghai First People's Hospital" in the bag. She wanted to open it and take a look. Aunt Liu nervously took the document bag back from Xiao Lan's hand, "Xiao Lan, you  can't look at it!" "Aunt, no wonder why you took so much money, there must be something wrong, let me have a look." Xiao Lan grabbed the document bag from Aunt Liu's hand, and hurriedly took out a piece of paper inside, it turned out to be issued by the hospital  in the diagnosis certificate, the word "lung cancer" came into view.  Xiao Lan was stunned!  She hugged Aunt Liu tightly and said, "Auntie, why is this happening? I usually see you coughing, but I thought you were just having bronchitis, but I didn't expect it to be so serious!" After comforting Aunt Liu, Xiao Lan returned home and called the hospital and requesting help from experts everywhere.  Just as she was about to have dinner, the doorbell rang, Xiao Lan opened the door, and saw Aunt Liu holding a stack of money and said to Xiao Lan, "Xiao Lan, I'm here to pay you back the money, I found my money and it was under the pillow,  I just found out when I changed the sheets, look at my memory, it turns out that you put the money in the bag pretending you found it in the bag, you are such a good person!" "Aunt, I'm afraid you're in a hurry, if I give it to you directly, you definitely don't want it.  I had to think of this way." Xiao Lan invited Aunt Liu to her house and said that there was something to discuss.

Aunt Liu found out that Xiao Lan had contacted the hospital and experts for herself, and she was hospitalized three days later. She didn’t agree and said a lot of reasons. "Xiaolan, you know the situation of our family. I took 5,000 yuan, just to buy some medicine to maintain it. My disease is incurable, muddle along with no thought of tomorrow, if I can persist until my son Yang has a promising future in the army. I should be satisfied that day..." Aunt Liu said while wiping away tears.

Xiao Lan finally said to Aunt Liu that she wanted to tell Zhou Yang about her condition if she didn't go to hospital for treatment, "forcing" Aunt Liu to accept her arrangement.  The day before the hospitalization, Xiao Lan accompanied Aunt Liu to the bank to deposit the 5,000 yuan previously withdrawn into her bank card, and paid the hospitalization fee for Aunt Liu herself.  After being diagnosed by experts, surgery was required immediately. Xiao Lan solemnly signed her name in the family column of the operation notification letter, and wrote the word "mother and daughter" in the family relationship column.

Just after Xiao Lan sent Aunt Liu into the operating room, her phone rang, "Sister Lan, the task of recruit training is heavy, and I don't have time to make frequent calls. I have a rest today and call my mother, but there has been no answer. I am very worried my mother. Is she okay?" "Zhou Yang, you have to adapt to life in the army as soon as possible and train well. After Xiao Lan and Zhou Yang finished talking on the phone, she waited anxiously outside the operating room for more than four hours. Finally that closed door opened, "Who are Liu Fang's family members?" "I am! Doctor, how is Aunt Liu? Has the operation gone well?" "What? Why is it Aunt Liu, as you call her, aren't you her daughter?" "Yes, yes." "Your mother's operation was successful, don't worry! Go to the ward and wait, and the nurse will send her back immediately.  "After saying, the doctor turned back and went in.

Xiao Lan hurried to the ward. She was afraid that Aunt Liu would be scared if she didn't see herself when she woke up in the ward first. 任诚刚，男，云南农业大学外语学院英语教授；云南大学滇池学院客座教授。海外诗译社副社长、诗殿堂执行主编、当代先锋文学社首席顾问、暮雪诗歌年鉴编委。主要从事MTI硕士研究生高级文学翻译及英语专业翻译理论与实践课程教学。系中华（传统）诗词学会会员、云南省翻译工作者协会理事；编著书籍：《旅美吟稿》（专著、1999）等6部。擅长文学创作及翻译，以诗歌韵译见长。

Yun Duo, whose real name is Song Xianyun, is a Chinese anchor of “Overseas Phoenix Poetry Translation society”；a retired cadre of a state-owned enterprise in Tianjin.  She has been engaged in TV broadcasting and editing work in large state-owned enterprises for many years, and often served as the host of various activities.  In 2018, she participated in the Binhai New Area Peak Recitation Competition and won the first prize in the combination category.
