以诗并画留别汤国顿二首
其一
蹈海鲁连不帝秦，茫茫烟水着浮身；
国民孤愤英雄泪，洒上鲛绡赠故人。
其二
海天龙战血玄黄，披发长歌览大荒；
易水萧萧人去也，一天明月白如霜。
注（其一）：① “蹈海”句：战国时齐人鲁仲连，反对秦王为帝，誓言如其“肆然而为帝，则连有蹈东海而死耳！吾不忍为之民也”。诗人借此表达不愿为清王朝之民，故有② “茫茫”句，谓渡海寄身于日本。③鲛绡：传说中鲛人所织的绡。此指绘有画的生绢。④故人，诗人居留日本时的古诗文老师汤国顿。光绪二十九年（1903）,作者离日归国，以此二诗留别故人汤国顿。
注（其二）：①“海天”句：《周易•坤》：“龙战于野，其血玄黄。”诗用此典，指帝国主义侵略战争、在华互斗争夺造成的悲惨局面。② “易水”句：荆轲易水河上曾歌曰，“风萧萧兮易水寒，壮士一去兮不复还！”诗人以荆轲自喻，表示归国反清的决心。

I
“Rather drowning than serving the Qin” vowed LU Zhonglian.①
“Crossing the seas, I left the Qing to settle in Japan. ②
With lonely grief, I let my patriotic tears shed to
This very raw silk painting, a farewell gift to you.”
Notes：
1 LU Zhonglian, a native of Qi State in the Warring Period, opposed the king of Qin State to be emperor and vowed, “I rather drown than to serve the Qin if he becomes emperor.”
2 I in the poem was poet SU Manshu. He rather crossed sea to settle in Japan than to be under the rule of the Qing Dynasty.
II
Foreign dragons fought for each own interest on our Land;
Hair loosened, I sang ‘loud in grief because wars expand.
The Yishui River still flows; Though JING Ke’s not on site,
The moon floodlights as ’fore, the vast sky frosty white.①
Note：①JING Ke was a brave in the Warring State Period. Before going to assassinate the king of the Qin, he sang heroically: The wind blows hard, the chilly Yishui River running on; / I am now going a mission and will never return!
3.住西湖白云禅院作此
白云深处拥雷峰，几树寒梅带雪红。
斋罢垂垂浑入定，庵前潭影落疏钟。
注：①白云禅院，即白云庵，在杭州西湖夕照山麓，雷峰塔下。②“潭影落疏钟”，报时的钟声，在幽静的湖面上荡起涟漪。
Staying in the White Cloud Temple by Xihu Lake
Deep, deep in the white clouds towers the Leifeng Tower ;①
On plum trees, while snow dots on many a red flower.
I sit to meditate quietly after Buddhist meal;
Before the Temple, the chiming ripples the pool still.
Note：①White Cloud Temple by Xihu Lake (the West Lake) is located near the Leifeng Tower at the food of the Xizhao Hill, Hangzhou, China.
作者简介：
苏曼殊(1884-1918)，近代作家、诗人、翻译家，广东香山县（今广东省珠海市沥溪村）人。原名戬，字子谷，学名元瑛（亦作玄瑛），法名博经，法号曼殊，笔名印禅、苏湜。光绪十年(公元1884年)生于日本横滨，父亲是广东茶商，母亲是日本人。曾就读于日本私立第一学府早稻田大学。苏曼殊多才多艺，能诗擅画，通晓汉文、日文、英文、梵文等多种文字，在诗歌、小说等多种领域皆有成就，后人将其著作编成《曼殊全集》，共五卷。
英译者简介：
吴伟雄，广东新会人，英语译审。中国译协四、五届理事，专家会员，获“资深翻译家”证书。在广东肇庆、云浮两市从事外事管理和翻译工作多年，外交部授“资深地方外事工作者”称号。曾赴五大洲20多个国家任随团翻译或参加国际会议。广东省译协和广州外事翻译学会创会理事，肇庆、云浮两市译协创会会长、荣誉会长。2006-2017年，任北理工珠海学院外国语学院教授，授《汉英互译》、《英语诗歌选读》、《中英诗歌鉴赏》等，曾任《独立学院外语界》主编。在《中国翻译》，《中国科技翻译》和《上海翻译》发文16篇，出版编著5本。2005年在中国译协和桂林市府合办的“桂林山水甲天下”名句国际译文征集活动中获连珠三奖：优秀奖（第一名），入围奖和鼓励奖。
