Birds
My religion is birds –
The flock, the dazzle
and flurry of feathered
ascension into thin air,
carving through branches,
The strobe of sunlight over water,
Glide of downy undercurrents,
The dip and dive of dusk
and scurried shadow
My prayer would be measured
in murmuration,
the striated cloud rippling a cathedral dawn.
I think that I should have no need
of priests, saints, nor martyrs,
My liturgy would be the soft,
incessant, 'Where are you?'
of the turtle doves, pitying
between ecstatic heavens
and sober earth,
My Communion,
The place
where wings
meet sky.
飞鸟
我的信仰 是飞鸟——
群舞于天 如此雄伟。
一排一排的飞羽腾空，
总凝望着 远方的堡垒。
于枝桠间雕琢，
阳光卧在水面上的圈点，
柔和的滑翔过，
黄昏的沉吟，
共忙碌的影魅。
我的祈祷 将被记取，
于低语之中，
条状的云呵 在教堂的黎明中荡漾低徊。
我想 我应未必成为，
牧师、圣徒或者殉道的原罪。
礼拜的仪式 是温柔的祭礼，
不停地问呀 “你在何处？”
这是斑鸠的哀怜之声，
在狂喜的天堂，
共明净的星球道轨。
我的仪式，
唯于，
双翼触天时 最为登对。
