Postcards from Yan’an
I'm looking at
the color photos and I think:
“What a beautiful city.
It's a pity it's so far.
It shines like a star in the night sky.
Today I can admire it,
someday I want to touch it .”
I notice
that the jade green of the hills
is crossed by the blue of a meandering river.
Maybe it's the dragon's mark on the ground,
filled with life-giving water.
A happy symbol and an omen?
I marvel
at the colorful lights and mighty skyscrapers
Modernity goes to the sky.
The roots date back to antiquity
and draw their juices
from the origins of the nation
The cradle of China
sways to the rhythm of memories
about great men and their works.
Locals pride themselves on Huang Di.
Aged stones in the mausoleum
whisper about him with delight.
I do not know,
who will read this poem,
but everyone will find
something different in it.
I invite you to wander with me.
I reveal the charm of this place with a word
and I follow the trail of my imagination.
