“Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.
And fare thee well, my only Luve
And fare thee well, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.”
— Robert Burns”
Pink hope, heal the world!

1. Afar
By Jinghao (UK)
The remote East
Where the peach blossoms are in full bloom
Is the paradise of my memory?
There is my rocking cradle—
The long Zijiang River has raised me up, and
The mighty tiger-shaped mountain hides my longing
There is the home of my love—
My loving mother’s care and
The smiles of family and friends
There are my haunting dreams—
The delicious food of my hometown
And the fragrance of gardenia
The moon is the brightest there,
A place of expectation for those far from home
And the final destination of the fallen leaves
2. Ancient Alleys of Ming and Qing Dynasties
My hometown’s ancient alleys have withstood centuries of wind and rain
Arches vault the walls, lanes leading to lanes
From south to north, twisting and turning
The winding alleys lead to a remote place,
To the depths of history ——
The Ming and Qing dynasties
People walking these ancient alleys
As if traversing in the old times
Glittering Yiyang’s past prosperity
The romantic story of Emperor Qianlong
Meeting with the Beauty Miss Yu
Is still perfuming fragrant in the mottled brick tiles
A graceful young girl in a Chinese Qipao
Is seen in such an old alleys from time to time
Holding an oil-paper umbrella
Walking in affectionate steps
3. White Deer Temple
The millennium ancient temple
Stands on the south bank of Zijiang River
Featuring red walls and yellow tiles
Magnificent and splendour
With four halls along the slope
The temple was built starting from the hillside
Towering pavilions, carved beams and painted rafters
Telling the Buddhist stories as life-like
Going up step by step
One feels as if hiking a path to practiseBuddhism
Climbing all the way hard to the top
One enjoys fresh breeze in a suddenly open and clear
Peixiu* once read sutra in the temple by candlelight
His imposing chanting voice
Invited an immortal white deer to listen all night
And the temple has since become famous
A heavy bronze bell
Rings each night on time
Melodiously resounding all over the ancient city
And fluttering the mood of the Buddhist prime
Note: * Peixiu was a prime minister and a calligrapher in Tang Dynasty.

4. Dou Kui Tower
On the Zishui South Bank
An ancient tower stands
Seven floors of granite, imposing and elegant
The apex of the tower touches the clouds
The stone tower stands on the bank of a chilling river
Locking Dragon suppressing Demons
Keeping the local area safe
Brightly lit at night
Brilliant is the golden wall of the tower
Reflected in the Zijiang River
A golden dragon swimming, sparkling
On the opposite of the river
San Tai Tower on the north shore
Hears a distant echo
By the hills and water: Beautiful scenery
Two towers standing guard
Over the majestic city gate
Showing the atmosphere of the ancient millennium city
Spectacular silver city, stars in the sky
The Big Dipper, the first star is called Kuixing
The pagoda on the ground takes its name, throughout the ages
To cultivate culture, so as to flourish both spiritually and materially

5. The Moonlit Ziwei Village
There is the Crape Myrtle Palace in the sky
There is a Ziwei* Village in the mankind.
There was a breeze that night,
Lantern and moon’s shadows are on the water
I found it is difficult to distinguish
Heaven from earth, and
I didn’t know what the difference is
There were stars strewn all over the sky
Crowded people on the ground
And Crape Myrtle flowers like stars
Miss Huihui, like the Moon Fairy Chang’e
Lead us in the moonlight
Roaming in our inner friendly garden
That moonlit night has been branded in my mind
And printed in the moon palace, lasting for ever
Note: * Ziwei in Chinese means crape myrtle.

6. Confidant
The confidante is the inviting scenery of a pool of transparent,
Autumn water
Her beauty is retained despite time passing, the wind sends the fragrance
The years have enhanced her true goodness and kindness
Her sweet voice, her beautiful smile
Will stay in my heart forever, and haunt my dreams
The most beautiful smile when she was with me.
Everlasting, I will never forget
My vacation has become her business
Treating us with hospitality, looking after us so well
Now floating in the British sky
Clouds, fluttering my thoughts
Blooming flowers in front of my window
Sending my blessings to
And with my glimpse of the distant East Zijiang river
As a tribute, there is my confidante
